Prime Minister Edi Rama has expressed his belief that he will win another 4-year mandate to govern the country in the May 11 elections.
However, the socialist leader has indicated when he plans to retire from politics.
Invited to the studio of the Opinion show on TV Klan, Edi Rama was asked by leader Blendi Fevziu whether he would step down from the leadership of the SP if he loses the elections.
According to Rama, there are only 2 ways he can leave the office of Prime Minister; a vote of the citizens and when he decides to withdraw politically. According to him, a vote against is unlikely to happen, so the decision remains his own.
Blendi Fevziu: If you lose the elections, will you step down from the leadership of the Socialist Party?
Edi Rama: We have 74 mandates, we do not have any district where we can lose a mandate from the ones we have. In Shkodra we have 3 out of 11. We got the worst result last time. With what Shkodra has today, we will get at least 1+. In Lezha I say let's stay as it is. In Tirana there are 2 MPs who have been added, we are 18 today as we speak, we do not lose a mandate in Tirana. In Durrës there is no chance that we will lose 8, we can get 9. In Elbasan it is certain that we will get 1 more. In Fier we will bring home the 10th mandate. The others will remain stable. There may be movement in Vlora. There are two ways for me to leave the Prime Minister's office. First, if Albanians vote against me, there is no question that I am not Prime Minister, but there is no chance that I will become the socialist owl of the swamp, but you have to learn, I will leave when I decide. When I decide, I will leave. Votes, of course, but it will not come down to votes. When I decide, I will leave politics.
