German Bundestag member and member of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, Peter Beyer, welcomed the proceedings of the National Assembly of the Democratic Party, praising its role as the main opposition force in Albania and emphasizing the high expectations of Germany and its European partners towards this political force.
In his message, Beyer stated that the Democratic Party remains the most influential and important opposition party in Albania, while emphasizing that the expectations from the CDU, Europe and the international community are considerable.
"You are currently the most influential and important opposition party in Albania and the expectations from me, from the CDU of Germany and of course from Europe and the rest of the world are very high," he declared.
The German MP placed emphasis on Albania's European integration process, describing it as the country's biggest challenge in the coming years.
"We rely on you and please take this responsibility with the utmost seriousness," said Beyer, referring to the opposition's role in monitoring the reform process and the path towards the European Union.
He called for avoiding internal political conflicts and focusing on strategic objectives, citing European integration, the fight against corruption, and the crackdown on organized crime as priorities.
"There is no time for conflicts among you or internal competition, but you must all focus on a single goal; integration into the European Union," said Peter Beyer.
The German CDU MP added that Albania needs a credible political alternative to guarantee the country's development and European future.
"Corruption must be fought, organized crime must be fought and you must offer a real alternative for Albania," declared the CDU MP.
At the end of the message, he wished success for the proceedings of the Democratic Party Assembly and conveyed the greetings of the German CDU to the Albanian democrats.

Honorable Mr. President, Honorable Dr. Sali Berisha, delegates, guests, friends of the Democratic Party of Albania.
My name is Peter Beyer and I am a member of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag, in Berlin.
I regret that I cannot be with you today at this important congress of your party, but time commitments prevent me from being with you physically. However, I am with you in mind and heart.
I appreciate this opportunity to at least address you with a few words.
You have a very important party congress. Make big decisions, elect a new board, a new chairman, a new president. I have some ideas about who it might be, but I'll keep my mouth shut.
Regarding the challenges that lie ahead and the responsibility that comes with them, I want to say the following;
Your country, your wonderful and beloved Albania, faces a very big challenge; the path towards the European Union.
In a few weeks, the European Union-Western Balkans summit will be held in Montenegro. Representatives from your country will also be present there, but you should keep an eye on them.
You are currently the most influential and important opposition party in Albania and the expectations from me, from the CDU of Germany and of course from Europe and the rest of the world are very high.
We are counting on you and please take this responsibility with the utmost seriousness.
There is no time for conflicts among you or internal competition, but you must all focus, like us in the CDU in Germany, on a single goal; integration into the European Union.
Also, when it comes to Albania – you know this much better than I do – corruption must be fought, organized crime must be fought, and you must be and offer a real alternative for Albania, a leadership that truly paves the way for your country towards a prosperous and bright future.
On this occasion, I wish you a very successful party congress.
