The National Assembly of the Democratic Party of Albania (DP) has begun its work at the Palace of Congresses in Tirana, at around 11:30, with the slogan Renewal. The National Assembly is expected to approve the statutory changes, which a few days ago received the agreement of the DP Presidency, and will then continue with the election of the new National Council of this party.
1,100 delegates have been summoned to the hall of the Palace of Congresses, who will vote for 200 new members of the National Council, who will join the heads of the DP branches and the deputies, who are automatically part of this decision-making forum.

The National Assembly is also expected to determine the political and organizational directions that the Democratic Party will follow in the coming period. According to what has been announced earlier, the changes will not affect the so-called "Basha Article", which provides for restrictions for leaders who lose elections, as well as the Primaries mechanism for selecting candidates.

The statutory changes will be presented by Gazmend Bardhi, while the "Renewal" Assembly as a whole will approve 8 interventions, which will be approved by open vote.
In the new statute, a committee is established that selects the proposals that come in, before the membership expresses itself by voting, as candidates for mayor or MP.

Acknowledging the early problems with the membership list, the DP imposes in its statute the digitalization of the lists and their updating every two years.
The Assembly began its work with greetings from the international allies of the Democratic Party, the most important of which was the Croatian Prime Minister, who from Zagreb addressed the National Assembly with a recorded message. Meanwhile, in the hall of the Palace of Congresses, there were other guests such as Peter Beyer, a member of the German CDU, or former American congressman, Bob McEwen. The National Assembly of the DP also received a greeting from Dolors Montserrat, the Secretary General of the EPP, who has been in Albania since Thursday. Another guest was the Greek member of parliament Vassilios Giogiacas.

The proceedings of the National Assembly of the Renewal of the Democratic Party are taking place in the same hall where 5 years ago Sali Berisha supported Lulzim Basha, in the race that was taking place at that time, when the candidates were Edit Harxhi, Agron Shehaj and Fatbardh Kadilli, while a few months later Berisha and Basha had one of the strongest clashes that this party had had in at least 3 decades.

In the hall where the Assembly proceedings are taking place, Berisha appeared enthusiastic, was welcomed with ovations, while at his side stood Liri Berisha, the wife of the democratic leader, and Flamur Noka, Secretary General of the DP. In the same row were present all of Berisha's international allies, or guests of honor, as well as deputies who hold leadership positions in the DP such as Oerd Bylykbashi, Edi Paloka, Gazment Bardhi, Albana Vokshi.
