The Deputy of the Democratic Party, Agron Gjekmarkaj said that he is against the appointment of the daughter of the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha as the head of the Democratic Party.
In an interview for the show 'Now' on 'Euronews Albania', according to him, the party is not a monarchy that can be inherited within the family and the placement of Argita Malltez at the head of the DP will not be welcomed by Albanians.
" I have met Ms. Malltezi 2-3 times, she seemed like an intelligent person, but I don't think that ethically she should be in charge of the Democratic Party. It is not a legacy, it seemed correct to me in the interviews, but you cannot turn parties in a democracy into a family or personal monarchy. It would not be welcomed by the Albanians. It is within her right to protect her father, but I don't see it as a solution for DP because it would always be seen as piloting by Berisha" , he said.
