The former prime minister, Sali Berisha, from the window of the apartment where he is under house arrest, has accused the government of undermining the interests of Albanians.
Berisha said that for a year this regime has introduced the narco-euro in Albania, converting the European currency into the currency of drug traffickers and crime. Which, according to him, has damaged the budgets of Albanian families.
"If we do a brief analysis, the interests of Albanians are kicked today by this regime in the most ruthless way. The individual interests of Albanian citizens are kicked by Edi Rama's regime in the most ruthless way. My friends, since one year this regime has established in Albania the narcoeuro, the European currency converted into the currency of drug traffickers and crime. From drugs and traffic, the European currency does not raise its head in Albania.
The second most powerful currency on the planet crashes here. But with this fall, the pocket, salary, life of every Albanian suffers. 15 percent of export enterprises have been closed. Thousands and thousands of citizens lost their jobs. But don't forget that every year, emigration sends about 1 billion euros to their family members in Albania. Each shipment, when it arrives in Albania, has lost 20, 30 percent of its value due to narcoeuros. "Each Albanian who receives the money sent by his family members receives 20, 30 percent less than what they are worth where they leave ," he said.
