Former MP Enkelejd Alibeaj said that Edi Rama could change the constitutional system in Albania, turning it into a semi-presidential one, where the head of state has immunity from justice.
As for "Diella", Alibeaj pointed out that in the event of corruption, Edi Rama will be held criminally liable, and the president was careful to define the liability in the decree.
"The Assembly is a repetition of many scenes from 4 years ago. I have the impression that this is a Parliament that, at least for the most cultivated part of society, has no innovation. There is a great mutilation. For the first time, since 97, a single party has such a measure of authoritarian power. It would take a sense of self-restraint to not go into authoritarianism, which Rama lacks."
Rama had no choice but to say, yes, he will put his hands in the Constitution. He has shown that there is no limit to the use of this power until the end. In a fragile system, without counterweights, that is also going to suffocate the justice system in its cradle, this becomes very dangerous for the entire society. It is an alarm bell that Albanian society needs an internal reflection, to create antibodies, because I have no hope in the opposition.
Apparently Rama will unilaterally affect and change the constitutional system, the regime. A semi-presidential system would not seem surprising to me that Rama would explore, where the President would be a figure who also has immunity. Such a position with immunity, in conditions where the only danger can come from justice, could be a warm den for any sinner. Changing the number of deputies is opening a door for such changes.
At least the President did a good job today. I don't believe we will go to the extreme of having an AI minister, because the constitution does not allow it. By introducing technology, he seeks to detach human responsibility from sins, to pass it on to technology. This is not happening. A justice system is such that it will find the hand behind Diella and identify it as responsible, both in civil and criminal terms. The President was careful because he had determined the responsibility for every act that he will attribute to Diella", said Alibeaj.
