Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, gave an interview to the Greek newspaper "Tanea" ahead of his visit to Athens, which is expected to take place next Tuesday.
In this interview, Hasani emphasized that Edi Rama's government is "open and fully committed to promoting dialogue on all unresolved bilateral issues."
He expressed optimism for the future of Greek-Albanian relations, underlining the readiness for dialogue and cooperation.
Regarding the issue of maritime delimitation, the minister emphasized that the Albanian government engages in talks in a spirit of mutual respect and aims to achieve fair and sustainable solutions that reflect common interests for good neighborly relations and regional stability.
Regarding Edi Rama's victory in the elections, Hasani noted that the strong support of Albanians living in Greece is evidence of their continued trust in the Prime Minister's leadership and the government's commitment to deep reforms, as well as in the shared vision for a European future for Albania.

It also underscores the unwavering connection between our diaspora and the country's democratic and developmental progress.
Is it true that the issue of maritime delimitation will be at the top of the agenda of your upcoming meeting with your Greek counterpart in Athens on June 3? Should we expect that the next step will be, as agreed in 2020, the submission of this dispute to the International Court of Justice in The Hague?
The Albanian government remains open and committed to advancing dialogue on all outstanding bilateral issues. We engage in these talks in a spirit of mutual respect, with the aim of achieving just and lasting solutions that reflect our shared interest in good neighborly relations and regional stability.
Through continued dialogue and constructive engagement, we believe that it is possible to address all relevant issues in accordance with international norms — building on the deep historical ties and geographical proximity that have bound our peoples for generations. These enduring ties have helped shape a relationship that must be continually guided by cooperation and mutual understanding.

Marrëdhëniet shqiptaro-greke duhet të vazhdojnë të zhvillohen në një frymë pozitive dhe përparimtare, të rrënjosur në partneritetin strategjik, bashkëpunimin e ngushtë në NATO dhe aspiratat tona të përbashkëta europiane. Greqia mbetet një partner i rëndësishëm për Shqipërinë, dhe ne vlerësojmë progresin e arritur deri tani.
Popujt tanë kanë jetuar pranë njëri-tjetrit për shekuj me radhë, duke ndarë kufij, eksperienca dhe shkëmbime të panumërta sociale e kulturore. Kjo afërsi ka krijuar një lidhje të thellë njerëzore që tejkalon politikën dhe nënvizon rëndësinë e zgjidhjes së të gjitha çështjeve përmes dialogut. Vizita ime në Athinë më 3 qershor është një mundësi për të ndërtuar mbi këtë themel dhe për të riafirmuar angazhimin tonë të përbashkët për dialog të hapur dhe konstruktiv. Duke vazhduar angazhimin me mirëbesim, besojmë se çështjet e pazgjidhura mund të trajtohen në mënyrë që reflekton vlerat tona të përbashkëta dhe kontribuon në stabilitetin dhe integrimin rajonal.
Në cilat fusha keni pasur mbështetjen më të madhe nga Greqia në vitet e fundit, dhe cilat fusha të reja bashkëpunimi do të dëshironit të zhvilloni në këtë mandat të katërt të Edi Ramës?
Shqipëria dhe Greqia gëzojnë bashkëpunim të fuqishëm në sektorë të ndryshëm. Ne vlerësojmë veçanërisht mbështetjen e gjatë të Greqisë për integrimin europian të Shqipërisë, si dhe bashkëpunimin në energji, tregti, iniciativa rajonale dhe platforma multilaterale.
Duke parë përpara, shohim potencial të madh për të thelluar këtë partneritet. Me Shqipërinë në një fazë kyçe të anëtarësimit në BE — me katër klastere negociatash të hapura — ky është momenti i duhur për të forcuar lidhjet jo vetëm në kontekstin europian, por edhe në fusha si infrastruktura, energjia e rinovueshme dhe shkëmbimet ndërnjerëzore. Mbështetja e vazhdueshme e Greqisë do të mbetet thelbësore ndërsa punojmë për t’i afruar më shumë vendet dhe shoqëritë tona.

Albania is on a secure path towards EU membership. After deep reforms, we are now at a crucial stage of the accession process, with four clusters of negotiations now open. Progress in key areas — such as the rule of law, democratic governance and public administration — has created a solid foundation.
We are committed to accelerating reforms, in particular on judicial integrity, economic modernisation and institutional strengthening. Our objective is to start closing chapters soon and to complete negotiations by 2027, preparing Albania for membership in 2030.
While the process is demanding, it offers a transformative framework for modernising our institutions and economy, as well as for building a resilient democratic society. More than two decades after the Thessaloniki promise, the time has come to inject a new dynamic into the enlargement process — not only for Albania, but for the entire Western Balkans. This is a strategic necessity for the EU and the region.
