Democratic MP Ervin Salianji has requested that in today's session of the Parliamentary Security Committee, the leaders of SHISH, the Ministry of the Interior and the State Police report on the theft of data from the TIMS system.
While the Deputy Minister of the Interior Julian Hodaj was reporting to the commission, he asked if they have any answers for one of the most serious events reported by the international, but also the Albanian media, such as the attempt or intervention in the TIMS system.
"The institutions that must be accountable to the parliament, that are under the monitoring of this commission, must be accountable as provided by the constitution and the law. Here I am referring to the slippage of the head of the State Information Service, who did not report as provided for in the Constitution and law. I bear in mind that the Minister of the Interior and the General Director of Police, despite the requests made in accordance with the rules of the Assembly, did not participate in the issues requested by the opposition MPs and in one case with the agreement of the majority MPs, and I believe that we should return to where we were. we have left the reporting of these institutions before the Assembly to get back on the track of legality. Secondly, it is of great concern to all public opinion as well as to international partners and so they should come here to discuss and we will make a request first and then a commission for further, it is an essential concern from the first meeting of this commission, let us discuss whether the Ministry of the Interior, its representatives, have any answer for one of the most serious events reported by the international, but also the Albanian media, such as the attempt or intervention in the TIMS system to erase traces, or to receive data, to transfer or divert them" , said Salianji.
The deputy said that the meeting should be started on this essential issue, either for the safety of Albanian citizens, or for the protection of personal data, or for the preservation of data that may be the object of the investigative work of SPAK or justice institutions. Further, Salianji raised the concern of hiring persons with criminal records for the same criminal offense in the State Police.
"Given that we did not have the opportunity to have the director of the Police, the director of AMP or the Minister of the Interior in the committee despite the two requests made by the deputies in accordance with the regulation, I have two questions that are the main concern related to security on site for the representative of the Ministry of Interior and a concern expressed by the US embassy about the theft of TIMS system data; do we have any information if there is an investigation by the AMP, if those responsible have been found, to what level is the intervention in this system, do you and are there responsible people in that ministry, people who have been prosecuted before for similar criminal offenses, are appointed in the key sectors related to this directorate in the General Directorate of Police. I read a media investigation yesterday, it is about 8 people prosecuted for this criminal offense and all 8 were taken from other positions and taken to the State Police. Are we dealing with a criminal offense or organized crime? Is there an investigation by the AMP, has the State Police taken measures to remove, suspend or supervise these accused senior State Police leaders?", declared Salianji.
