Elections for the leader of the Democratic Party, low voter turnout in the Southeast

The process of electing the leader of the Democratic Party is continuing this Saturday throughout the country, while only Sali Berisha is in the race for the leadership of the party.

In the Korça region, as of 2:30 p.m., turnout was low. Out of about 11,000 members with the right to vote, only 1,265 Democrats voted, which translates into about 11.5% turnout.

According to data from local branches of the DP, the highest number of voters was registered in Devoll with 390 voters, while in Korça 280 members voted. In Maliq 250 voters were registered, in Pogradec 200 and in Kolonjë 145 members.

The lack of a real competition has led to the process being considered more like a vote of confidence for Sali Berisha, who intends to continue leading the Democratic Party.

Voting is expected to continue until the evening hours, when the vote counting process will begin.
