The European Union has reacted regarding the violence in the Parliament against the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.
The head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Tomas Szunyog says that these scenes were disappointing as politicians and ministers of the government cabinet fight with fists and circumstantial items in the hall of the Assembly of Kosovo.
"Disappointing scenes of violence were seen today in the Parliament. The Assembly is not a place for physical attacks, but a place to discuss proposals and policies in a democratic way. Discussions and the exchange of ideas are the basic foundations of a democracy," his post reads.
The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, American Ambassador Jeff Hovenier and civil society organizations in Kosovo also condemned the violence.
"The assembly is the cornerstone of our democratic society, where different voices come together to represent the interests of the citizens, so violence has no place in the temple of democracy and cannot be turned into a political tool," Osmani wrote.
The video of the physical fight between the deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo was reflected in international media agencies such as BBC, CNN, NEW YORK TIME, The Guardian, etc.
The Basic Prosecutor's Office in Prishtina has started investigations into the chaos and the mass fight. To be interrogated, all the protagonists of the video with fists were called, among them the deputy. the prime minister, Besnik Bislimi and the finance minister, Hekuran Murati. One day after the incident, Prime Minister Albin Kurti appeared at the graduation ceremony of the 58th generation of the Kosovo Police, where 419 young officers were sworn in, and President Osmani was by his side.
