Kosovo's Foreign Minister, Donika Gërvalla, spoke about recent political developments and the blocking of the constitution of the Assembly by opposition MPs.
On "Çim Peka Live", Gërvalla stressed that he hopes that the decision of the Constitutional Court in Kosovo on 'secret voting' can unblock the impasse in which the country finds itself.
Kosovo's chief diplomat also stated that 'the blockade serves no one, the blockade is only harmful and at this stage there is no logic in continuing with the blockade'.
"We have been trying for 2 months to constitute the Assembly, which is the first step in creating the new institutions resulting from the vote on February 9th.
We had an extraordinarily long and unusual vote counting process. Then on April 15th, we had some sessions where the opposition showed its intention to block from the very beginning by not even voting for their mandates.
Then we had 6 sessions in which we tried to secure the vote for Albulena Haxhiu as Speaker of the Assembly, while now we have more than 20 sessions remaining on a procedural point, which is the creation of the committee for secret voting.
"I hope that the Constitutional Court will issue its decision as soon as possible so that with the court's opinion on the secret ballot, we can overcome a barrier and move forward. The blockade serves no one, the blockade is only harmful and at this stage there is no logic in moving forward with the blockade," said Gërvalla.
