The special representative of the European Union (EU) for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Miroslav Lajcak, will meet during the day with the diplomatic advisers of the leaders of France, Germany and Italy, sources from Brussels inform.

According to these sources, the American envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, will also be at the meeting.

This extraordinary meeting follows an attack on members of the Kosovo Police in the village of Banjské in the north of Kosovo, on Sunday, September 24, where a policeman was killed. The attackers are of Serbian nationality.

The Kosovo Police announced that the attack was carried out in the village of Banjské in Zveçan and that there are also injured people. Later in the day, three attackers were killed and six people were arrested.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has said that the group of attackers is a "terrorist and criminal formation".

The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, who addressed the public on Sunday evening, rejected these claims, saying that the Kosovo Serbs rebelled "not wanting to suffer Kurti's terror anymore".

The international community condemned this attack.

Regarding this, the European Union issued two communiques. The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, assessed the attack as aggression, and the act as "terrorist".
