The European Union has expressed "serious concern" regarding the non-confirmation of the results of the Serbian List in the recent parliamentary elections in Kosovo, while simultaneously demanding the depoliticization of the work of the Central Election Commission (CEC).
In a statement to the media, an EU spokesperson criticized the CEC's failure to approve the final result of the Serbian List, emphasizing that this process must be conducted in full compliance with democratic standards.
" The EU expresses serious concern about the failure of the Central Election Commission to approve the final result for the Serbian List in the recent parliamentary elections. The EU reiterates its call for the depoliticization of the work of the CEC, in line with the report of the Election Observation Mission, and calls on all parties to work together, in accordance with the Constitution," Brussels' response states.
Further, the EU spokesperson stressed the importance of including all elected members of parliament in the composition of the new Assembly of Kosovo.
"It is essential that all elected members of parliament take their seats in the new Assembly. The EU recalls that the next Kosovo legislature must accelerate EU-related reforms and ratify agreements under the pending Growth Plan, for the benefit of the citizens of Kosovo," the spokesperson stated.
