In the eyes of Kosovo Albanians, among whom the memories of the war are still alive, the masked Serbian commandos, dressed in camouflage uniforms that were seen in the Banjska monastery, are a symbol of the bloodthirsty barbarism of the Chetniks, ready for massacres among civilians and who do not they stop in front of the elderly, women and children. Therefore, the execution of 4 of them by the Kosovo police was expected as a well-deserved punishment for the on-duty killing of policeman Afrim Bunjaku.
But beyond the border, for the Serbs, the fable is completely different. From the first day, until today, Belgrade has woven another narrative, from which it seems that a citizen of Serbia can hardly escape.
Those whom the Albanians see with hatred as merciless killers, the Belgrade regime is serving the Serbian people as martyrs.
Of course, the president of the country, Aleksandër Vucic, once minister of propaganda, is at the top of this manipulation factory. On the first day of the event, when he appeared at a conference, he compared the killed Serbs in Zveçan with the hero of the Albanians, Adem Jashari.
"When Serbia went to Drenica to confront those who wanted to secede from the internationally recognized state, they said they were freedom fighters led by Adem Jashari and not terrorists. Only Serbia looks like a terrorist!" said Vucic, warning against the glorification of the victims in Zveçan.
Vucic's propaganda, which has been working since Sunday to wear the costume of the fallen martyrs in Zveçan, is based on the idea that Serbs in the north of Kosovo live under pressure and terror from the government of Albin Kurti. Since they could no longer bear the oppression of the Albanians, the Vucic regime claims, then the local Serbs rose up with guns in their hands.
Precisely on the basis of this logic, the Serbian state is treating those killed in Kosovo with appropriate honors.
The Government of Serbia declared Wednesday, September 27, a day of mourning. Serbian flags in all institutions will be flown at half-mast. The northern Serbs represented by Lista Serbe decided to declare days of mourning on September 26, 27 and 28. The decision is another act, which proves that the attack was organized in Belgrade.
But Vucic's messages are not isolated. Serbian media headlines are in tune with the state's messages. Media propaganda gives the same form to reports on the "terror" of Albin Kurti, the violation of the rights of Serbs, the uprising for freedom in Zveçan, etc.
"Heroes were killed! Kurt is a monster!” is the title of an article in Kurir online, which brings the conversation with a Serbian analyst in the morning studio. Dejan Miletiç talks about the sacrifices of the heroes killed in Zveçan, not counting that they were the ones who shot first at a policeman on duty.
"The sacrifices of our heroes are very great," he says. For me, they are our heroes and are ready to give their lives for the freedom of our people, together with their families and children. That's a lot. Nothing will be the same," says the analyst, while at the end of the conversation his voice shakes with sobs.
It is understood that among the commitment to bombard people's minds with such propaganda, it is impossible to find anywhere the portrait of the murdered Albanian policeman Afrim Bunjaku or the pain of his family members. There is nothing in the Serbian media from the statements of the government of Kosovo, evidence that the attack was organized by the Serbian state or any details or reports that contradict the glorification of the "heroes" who were killed in Zveçan.
A message from the widow of Stefan Nedeljkovic has been distributed in all Serbian media. The woman who lost her husband writes: “I'm still waiting for someone to wake me up from this nightmare... I'll wait for you until morning. I won't be pathetic, I know you don't like it. I waited until the last moment that you would come out of that forest victorious because you are our superhero forever…”
Mesazhi vazhdon me Stefan Nedeljkoviçin që ishte “babai më të mirë në botë” që do të shohë nga lart tre vajzat që ka lënë pas. Mediat serbe po ashtu kanë shpërndarë disa foto të familjes që jeton në Zveçan dhe e shoqëron me komentin se ata thjesht dëshironin të jetonin në liri.
Stefan Nedeljoviç nuk ishte i vetmi që humbi jetën në sulmin e armatosur në veri të Kosovës. Bashkë me të u vra edhe Igor Milenkoviç, 50 vjeç, babai i dy fëmijëve që punonte si shofer i ambulancës në spitalin e Mitrovicës.
Bojan Mijaloviç, i treti që u vra të dielën sapo ishte bërë baba disa muaj më parë shkruajnë mediat serbe.
I katërti, trupi i të cilit u zbulua në pyll, nuk është identifikuar ende.
Disa nga serbët e arrestuar u paraqitën në gjykatën e Prishtinës. Fotot e tyre që shfaqen të shoqëruar nga policia pasqyrohen po ashtu me titujt për terrorin e regjimit të Albin Kurtit ndaj serbëve të Kosovës.
I vetmi zë ndryshe duket të jetë një deputet i opozitës serbe, Miroslav Aleksiç që ka thënë se të vrarët janë përgjegjësi e regjimit të Vuçiçit dhe se deputetët e Listës Serbe e kanë shfrytëzuar situatën në veri të Kosovës për t’u pasuruar.
Por mesazhi i deputetit të opozitës pasqyrohei i cunguar, sa për të raportuar përgjigjen e Drejtorit për Zyrën e Kosovës, Petar Petkoviç. Flakë për flakë përfaqësuesi i qeverisë i ia mbyll gojën duke i thënë “kush e do Serbinë, mban zi për viktimat e terrorit të Kurtit” dhe se me qëndrimin e tij, opozitari Aleksiç po “amniston kriminelët dhe ekstremistët e Prishtinës”.
Petkoviç vazhdon duke e intimiduar deputetin e opozitës Miroslav Aleksiç me pyetjen “Kush të ka paguar?”, që në këto raste i jep fund debatit.
Propaganda që serviret nga mediat e Beogradit është ajo e një nacionalizmi të sëmurë, por ky nuk do të ishte e plotë pa një skenografi nga tifozët e ekipit të Yllit të Kuq. (Cervena zvezda). Pjesë e tyre ka qenë edhe Stefan Nedejlkoviç, që nuk jeton më.
Të famshëm tashmë për mesazhet shoviniste, tifozët i kanë dedikuar një mesazh në rrjetet sociale ku paralajmërojnë të mblidhen për ta kujtuar në një kishë: “Në kohën kur do luhej derbi me Partizanin, nesër (e mërkurë) në orën 19:00 në kishën e Shën Savës në Vraçar do të mbahet përkujtimore për prehjen e shpirtit të Stefanit dhe heronjve të tjerë të rënë në Kosovë për lirinë e popullit dhe të vendit tonë! Për t’u treguar mirënjohje atyre që vdiqën për të gjithë ne!”
Po të shohësh sasinë e madhe të armatimit që u gjet në Zveçan nuk është çudi që serbët vërtet kishin menduar se në veri të Kosovës po dërgonin heronj. Rrealiteti tregoi se ata nuk shkuan përtej vrasjes në pabesi të policit Afrim Bunjaku, gjë që e paguan me jetën e tyre.
