
The Basic Prosecution Office in Gjakova has announced that it has arrested 15 chief commissioners in Malisheva for 48 hours, on charges of vote manipulation in the December 28 elections.
The prosecution has also filed a request for the imposition of pre-trial detention with the competent court.
The Chief Prosecutor of Gjakova, Enis Gashi, announced that 18 chief commissioners and 50 commissioners have been invited for interviews.
"So far, 15 chief commissioners and 43 commissioners have been interviewed. The 15 chief commissioners have been detained for 48 hours, while the Prosecution will decide on the security measure. For the 43 commissioners, we are currently evaluating any eventual measure," he said at a press conference on Wednesday.
Gashi also stated that all are suspected of the criminal offense of "falsification of voting results."
10 others, according to the chief prosecutor, were unable to be interviewed today because they were abroad or for other reasons were unable to be present.
"Procedures will continue against them ," he added.
Gashi emphasized that there were 75 polling stations in Malisheva and after the recount, it turned out that 9,057 votes were added, while 7,996 votes were removed.
