Serbs have begun to gather in the Graçanica Monastery to celebrate the so-called "Vidovdan festival".
Members of the Kosovo Police can be seen near the monastery. Also, representatives of the EULEX mission were also seen passing by.
KFOR troops are also standing nearby.
This year the "Vidovdan festival" ceremony is being held in Graçanica.
The Kosovo Police announces that it has undertaken planning and operational actions for the management of the security situation in the country on the occasion of the Feast of Kurban Bayram and the so-called feast of the Serbs "Vidovdan".
According to the Police, this year as well as the previous years, in order for the situation to pass smoothly and without incidents, some strategic measures and objectives have been foreseen for implementation during the next day, such as:
"The preparation and undertaking of the necessary planning, coordination, preventive and operational measures so that the activities take place in normal conditions, order and public peace. Increasing security measures to guarantee order, peace and public safety. Guaranteeing freedom of movement for all citizens. Control and management of traffic flow on all main, regional and local roads.
Engagement of police units for re-orientation of traffic on those roads where there may be temporary disruption of the road or any lane. The implementation of legal powers and authorizations, in the face of different situations and taking measures against all law breakers, in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kosovo.
The Vidovdan festival is held in Graçanica starting at 7:00 a.m., so the traffic of vehicles will be temporarily stopped at the entrances and exits of the municipality of Graçanica, specifically at the entrance to the Mramor village and on the other hand at the entrance to the Veterrniku neighborhood, where vehicles will be redirected to alternative routes until the end of the Vidovdan holiday.
Referring to the police planning, the senior management of the KP welcomed the international partners in an official meeting, who informed them about the planning and police activities for the next day, these plans are aimed at creating a calm and safe environment for all citizens without distinction.
