The marriage of Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose has also ended legally. The divorce was finalized 3 months after the singer's request, which came less than a year after the marriage, for "irreconcilable differences".
The breakup has not been easy because the two have accused each other of verbal and emotional abuse, court documents state. They also say that Firerose didn't get a penny.
According to one source, this was not a problem for him. "She chose not to take anything to end everything with him and leave this situation," said a close source.
For the most part, the divorce settlement provides that the parties are left with their respective assets prior to the marriage. However, the clauses state that Miley Cyrus' father must recuse himself from claiming full credit or rights to songs the couple wrote and released before and during their marriage.
The singer's divorce filing came just days before the 37-year-old had to have both of her breasts removed because she has the BRCA gene, which means she has a greater potential to develop certain types of cancer.
Because of the extent of the divorce, Billy Ray cast doubt on this statement and asked for her medical records.
"There's no doubt she was going to get a divorce, but it was more important to her to end the taint and stop the emotional turmoil so she could close this chapter and heal peacefully," the source added.
On the other hand, Billy Ray has stated that Firerose only married him because of his last name.
