An unusual story has shocked the world of cinema: Pavel Talankin, Oscar winner for the documentary "Mr Nobody Against Putin," lost his award statuette after a flight from New York City to Germany.
According to reports, it all started at John F. Kennedy International Airport, where during a security check, Talankin was prevented from carrying the statue in the cabin of the plane. Authorities deemed the object potentially dangerous, forcing him to hand it over in his luggage.
But the trip took an unexpected turn: upon arrival at the destination, Oscar was no longer there.
Lufthansa has confirmed that it has launched an urgent internal investigation to find out what happened to the statue and return it to its owner as soon as possible .
According to producer Robin Hessman, Talankin had difficulty communicating during the incident and was assisted over the phone, as he does not speak fluent English.
She emphasized that it was not the first time he had traveled at such prices, ironically adding that such a situation "would never happen to Leonardo DiCaprio," a comment that has sparked even more debate online.
Meanwhile, Talankin's documentary deals with the propaganda war in Russian schools after the invasion of Ukraine in 2022, a topic for which he was forced to leave Russia and live in Europe for security reasons.
An Oscar lost at the airport and an ongoing international investigation, a story that seems more like a movie script than reality.
