Gladiator 2, the sequel to Ridley Scott's cult film twenty years later, arrives in cinemas worldwide with another story of bloody power struggles, intrigue and revenge set in Ancient Rome.
Now the first trailer has been released, which hints at what the film is about.
The story follows Lucius (Paul Mescal), grandson of Commodus (played by Joaquin Phoenix) and grandson of Marcus Aurelius, who himself is forced to enter the Colosseum and fight for his life and honor.
In addition to Mezcal, Pedro Pascal also stars, as well as Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, Joseph Quinn and others.
The young actor previously stated that he is "under stress" for his role in this production, as it is "the biggest film he has played in".
“I'm excited, but it's also hard for me to walk away from the legacy of the original. I think it's really well written and a real homage to the first movie, but it's also something that I can go into and do my best,” said Mescal.
The movie is expected to release on November 15, 2024!
