Telling a trusted friend a secret and them sharing it with someone else can be a heartbreaking experience. It's a shattering of trust in every way, changing the way you view that friend you believed had your best interests at heart. Everyone has the capacity and potential to spread a secret, but to find out who is more likely to do so, you might want to look at their zodiac sign.
Since each sign has its own key features, some signs are a little looser with the boundaries of secrecy.
Astrologer Brandyn Lee spoke with Bustle about the three signs most likely to spill your secrets and why, sharing insights about the differences in motivations between them. Not all of them are malicious or intended to harm, but that doesn't mean they're beneficial either.
1. Gemini - The ruling planet of Gemini is Mercury, which dominates the field of communication. They are often thought of as the most social of all the signs, greatly enjoying meeting new people and learning about all the inner workings of a given circle of friends. That said, because they love to talk, learn, and get closer to people to reveal more of their story, Geminis tend not to have too much trouble sharing other people's secrets.
"Gemini are so fond of conversation that sometimes secrets slip out naturally before they realize they've said something," explained the astrologer.
He also warned that air signs are more likely to embellish the truth a bit, perhaps exaggerating a detail or two to make the story more exciting or to better fit what they think a group is going to tell them. like it more. So not only can your secrets be shared, but they can be modified.
2. Scorpio - Either you're surprised to see Scorpio on this list, or you're not surprised at all. Although Scorpios tend to get a bit of a bad rap in many ways, it may not be so unfounded here, as they have a tendency to share things they've been told in private. It's not even a mistake. Sometimes Scorpio does this for a crowd reaction or to stir up drama. The astrologer says this is due to the fact that Scorpios are "the type to throw the stone and then act like it had nothing to do with it". They're also more than happy to be "manipulative to get a secret out of you," he warned.
"Get on their bad side and they'll lay all your cards on the table and not even think twice! When it comes to their secrets, they're locked away. But anyone else's? Good luck!"
3. Sagittarius - For Sagittarius, their motives are much less willful or malicious. The astrologer says that those under this sign simply get excited about new things they've learned, which makes them forget when to share the details.
"Sagittarius is the type who wants to surprise you for your birthday and then asks if you want to know what the surprise is in advance. Not necessarily a bad thing, they're just super excited to tell you ."
Sometimes it's even completely accidental, their mouth moves faster than their brain when they're upset about something.
Sagittarius remain reliable when it comes to other measures like promises, favors, and compassion, but you might want to keep your more serious secrets at a distance from them...just in case.
Now, should you automatically distrust someone just because of their star sign? Of course not. Although our zodiac signs can say a lot about us, not everyone agrees with every known trait of the sign they're under. Life would be so boring if there were only 12 personality types.
