An influencer from India has carried out one of the most unique marketing actions of this year, turning bricklaying into a source of income and creativity.
Shafeek Hashim, a travel vlogger from the Indian state of Kerala, has started renting out his bald head as advertising space, turning it into a 'banner ad'
While many might not agree with such an idea, Hashim has already managed to profit from this unusual method. He signed a deal for 50,000 Indian rupees, which translates to about 600 US dollars, to get a temporary tattoo of a skin and hair clinic's logo on his head.
According to the contract, the logo will remain on his scalp for three months, while Hashim will also have to make three YouTube videos where the advertisement is clearly visible.
In an interview, he confessed that the idea came to him while he was considering getting a hair transplant:
"After much thought, I realized that baldness is something natural and there is no need to feel embarrassed about it. I decided to embrace it and turn it into a creative opportunity," he said.
“I believe I am the first person in India, maybe even in the world, to rent out my bald head for advertising. I am not doing this to go viral, but to change the way society views body image. I want to show that self-confidence can turn ‘flaws’ into strengths.”
The tattoo is temporary and can be removed with specialized chemical products.
