Prince Harry has settled his legal claim against the publisher of The Sun.
The Duke of Sussex and former Labour deputy leader Lord Tom Watson have taken legal action against News Group Newspapers (NGN) over allegations of illegal collection of information from journalists and private investigators between 1996 and 2011.
Harry's lawyer, David Sherborne, said the parties had "reached an agreement" and that NGN had offered the 40-year-old an apology and would pay "compensation".
NGN apologised to Harry for “The Sun’s interference between 1996 and 2011 in his private life”. It said these included “incidents of illegal activities” carried out by private investigators working for The Sun. NGN also apologised for “phone hacking, surveillance and misuse of private information by journalists and private investigators” at the News Of The World.
