Another legal battle is erupting in the Presley family, this time with shocking consequences. Priscilla Presley, the 80-year-old widow of music icon Elvis Presley, is being sued by two of her former business partners for fraud, breach of contract and interference with the life of her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, who died in January 2023.
The $50 million lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by Brigitte Kruse and Kevin Fialko, accuses Priscilla of a series of serious actions, including the decision to remove Lisa Marie's life support just hours after she was hospitalized, at a time when she had not been declared legally dead.
According to the plaintiffs, the decision was made in order for Priscilla to prevent changes to the inheritance structure and regain control over the Graceland estate.
Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of Elvis Presley, died at the age of 54 of a heart attack, with coroners linking the death to complications from bariatric surgery. However, the lawsuit raises new doubts, suggesting that Priscilla had a motive for acting in such a way.
In addition to allegations of interference in medical decisions, the plaintiffs accuse Priscilla Presley of financial fraud in connection with the joint venture “Priscilla Presley Partners,” in which they had invested millions of dollars to revive the brand around her public figure. They claim that they were systematically deceived and excluded from the benefits of the business. The reaction from Priscilla Presley’s camp has not been long in coming. Her lawyer, Marty Singer, has called the lawsuit “baseless, shameful and defamatory,” adding that it is a vindictive attempt by individuals who are trying to illegally profit from the figure of an elderly woman.
Singer also pointed out that Priscilla herself has previously filed a lawsuit against Kruse and Fialko for financial abuse of an elderly person, alleging that they embezzled more than $1 million from her through document manipulation and questionable agreements.
Following Lisa Marie Presley's death, her daughter, actress Riley Keough, won a legal battle to take full control of Graceland and her mother's estate, leaving Priscilla out of the management of the family trust. According to sources close to the family, Riley is standing by her grandmother despite the uproar the latest lawsuit has caused.
