Elhaida Dani, the artistic director of the 63rd Festival, has shared with the public her story of the battle with the prejudices that accompanied her personal life. She has spoken about the difficult moments she has gone through, describing love, her fall and her recovery after difficulties.
Dani explained how her love for Ledian turned into a big challenge for her, as many did not understand and judged her.
"Sometimes, it's not the stage lights that blind you, but the shadows of prejudice that follow you," she said, recalling the difficult moments when her love turned into a reason to criticize her.
She confessed that even though she faced accusations and bitter comments, being called a traitor by those who did not know her, despite all that, she did not give up hope.
"There are moments in the life of an artist where everything you are, everything you have built is put in front of a world that is waiting to judge you. Sometimes it's not the stage lights that blind you, but the shadows of prejudice that follow you. I was in that hall, you remember, on that stage, feeling every step, rhythm, and what no one had predicted was happening. I fell in love!
It wasn't an act, it wasn't a show, it was pure sensation. What to me was magic, to others became simply a reason to judge and punish me. The bad thing is that you feel it very hard, very deeply, like a heel breaking suddenly and you fall.
I too fell, fell before the eyes that watched my every move, my every step, my every glance. Only three days were enough for everything to change, comments, insults, accusations, I was prejudiced, called a traitor, people who didn't know me, who didn't understand my heart, while I remained there fragile, broken, but I'm used to I fight.
I grew up with the dream of winning. I grew up to be what my mother proudly tells me; this is my daughter!", said Elhaida Dani.
