A serious incident has shaken the family of former Big Brother VIP Kosova 4 finalist Elijona Binakaj, following the murder of her uncle, Rasim Binakaj, 38, in Gjakova. According to the Kosovo Police, the shooting took place at around 05:30 on “Vëllezërit Frashëri” street, where two people were shot. Rasim Binakaj died at the scene, while the other person was immediately sent for medical treatment.
Rasim was the one who in 2021 informed the public about the tragic accident in Croatia, where Elijona lost her mother and sister. The Police Spokesperson for the Gjakova region, Sheremet Elezaj, confirmed that intensive work is being done to clarify the incident and capture the main suspect, Nexhdet Zymberaj, owner of the "My Place" bar, where the conflict allegedly started.
Material evidence, including shell casings and a sharp instrument, was seized at the crime scene. The prosecution has classified the case as “Aggravated Murder” and investigations are ongoing. Kosovo Police have announced a search for the suspect and have appealed for any information that could help in his capture.
This event comes as another serious blow to the Binakaj family, which has already experienced previous tragedies, and has caused great shock in the Gjakova community. Authorities call for caution and cooperation with investigators to fully clarify the circumstances of the event.
