The president of the AFL, Armand Duka, has given a congratulatory message for the end of the year holidays, remembering that 2023 has been a special year for Albanian football.
In his speech, the Duke recalled the successes that Albanian football has recorded in this year that is coming to an end, with the European qualification being the icing on his cake.
Armand Duke's message:
"Today, being the last day of 2023, I find the opportunity to thank all those who have contributed to the results of Albanian football this year. Indeed, the year 2023 can be considered one of the most successful years and with more historical events for Albanian football.
We have recorded a record increase in the number of football players this year, about 2 thousand young people who have joined our game. We have invested and changed the infrastructure in the country with several projects in cooperation with the local governments and the government of Albania.
During this year we have organized many activities, we have organized perfectly and successfully the national competitions. We have added them, not only in professional football, but also in amateur football. Without a doubt, the championships of children and youth throughout the Republic of Albania.
But what is the icing on the cake, what is the biggest success of Albania's football for 2023 is the fantastic performances of our national team, its results and the qualification for EURO 2024. The qualification as convincing as never before and qualified as the best team in the group. The year 2023 will be long remembered as a successful year with positive steps forward for Albanian football.
Once again, being at the end of the year, I would like to thank everyone for their contribution: footballers, coaches, referees, all those who have cooperated with Albanian football.
Without a doubt, the sponsors of the National Team and the Albanian Football Federation, the administration of the AFL, which has done a hard work to organize in a perfect and professional manner in Albania, nationally and internationally. I want to emphasize that 13 international tournaments, entrusted by UEFA, have been organized in Albania this year.
Also, this year the AFL received the vote of confidence to organize the finals of the 2025 European Championship for the U-17 age group. I would like to thank everyone once again for their contribution and wish them a great year.
Happy Holidays! Happy New Year! May 2024 be an even better year, with even more results for Albanian football. And why not with very positive results at EURO 2024 in Germany."
