One of the most sensational victories in the history of Albania in terms of football is the triumph against Greece in 2004. Just a few months after the triumph in the European Championship against Portugal, the "Hellenes" faced the National Team at the "Qemal Stafa" stadium, where the red and blacks triumphed with a score of 2-1.
The day before the match, the then Prime Minister Fatos Nano was "promised" that in case of victory, the premium would be 500 thousand dollars, and so it happened.
To confirm this episode, former defender Rezart Dabulla spoke: "The $500,000 is real, because I was part of the national team at that time. In the match against Greece, I was on the bench. The amount was divided equally. There was no difference between who played and who did not.
"All the players who were part of the national team, even those on the bench or others in the stands, received the same amount. We all received 18 thousand dollars per person. Let's not forget, the dollar at that time did not have the current value."
