Drita has been eliminated from the Champions League, after being defeated 3-2 by Kauno Zalgiris in the second leg of the first qualifying round.
After a 1-1 draw in the first leg on the road, the Kosovo champions entered the field as favourites to secure qualification. However, it was the visitors who took the lead first, taking advantage of a weakness in Drita's defence.
The locals' reaction was immediate. Jashari restored the balance, while Manaj turned the tables, creating the impression that Drita had taken control of the challenge and was close to advancing to the next round.
However, the end of the match was dramatic. Kauno Zalgiris went all out to attack, equalized the score and in the extra minutes won a penalty after the VAR intervention, which determined a handball inside the area. From the penalty spot, Benshaib made no mistake, sealing the 3-2 victory and the qualification of the Lithuanian team.
With this elimination, Drita bids farewell to the Champions League, but will continue its European journey in the next round of the Conference League.
