The AEK team reacted harshly after a banner was unfurled in the stadium yesterday evening in the match against Ajax.
In the reaction, it is said that the AEK team condemns the display of this banner, even for a few seconds, "with extreme nationalist content" in their stadium.
It is further said that the unfurling of the banner with the words "Kosova is Albania" is a sad and infuriating event, as well as that the people who have committed this act will be found and expelled from the stadium forever.
We recall that the banner of AEK fans "Kosova is Albania" was a response to a banner unfurled by the fans of their rival Greek team, Oimpiakos, which said "Kosovo is Serbia".
For the second banner, no Greek sports organization and not only has made no reaction, let alone start investigations and condemn it so radically.
The message was displayed in the stadium by a non-Albanian group.
The message comes after an aggressive campaign of the message "Kosovo is Serbia" in Serbian, Romanian, Russian, etc. stadiums.
AEK fans are known as an anti-fascist group. We remind you that Greece is one of the 5 countries that does not recognize Kosovo's independence. They are: Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Slovakia and Spain.
The reaction of the Greek AEK team:
PAE AEK expresses its disgust and unequivocally condemns the appearance, even for a few seconds, of a banner with extreme nationalistic content in our stadium, which has absolutely nothing to do with the historical origin of our association and certainly not with what it is about stands since its foundation.
AEK does not need to prove anything with words, as it has done it with deeds in indisputable ways and with initiatives that no other group has done, against the war.
Regarding the specific sad and infuriating event, PAE AEK declares that it will not remain silent.
We are already taking action to find those responsible for even a momentary image, we repeat, that rightly disturbed the vast majority of our sports-loving world, which has also strongly objected.
We will definitely find those responsible and they will be permanently banned from entering our stadium.
The banner unfurled by the fans of AEK Athens in the match against Ajax, which read: "Kosovo is Albania", is today considered a betrayal and a "knife in the heart" by the Serbs and the media of this country.
This banner of AEK fans comes as a response to rivals Olympiakos.
"Kurir.rs" reports that AEK fans surprised them with their banner, which shocked all of Serbia.
"Treason! Greek fans, a knife in the heart of the Serbs: Brothers, we did not expect this from you! The slogan that shocked Serbia".
This is the title of "Courier" to the banner of AEK Athens fans.
According to this portal, not long ago, AEK supporters had a slogan that said the opposite, so no one is clear why and how the attitude of the fans of the Greek club has changed.
