Accident in free practice for the Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Suzuka circuit. Alpine driver Jack Doohan lost control of his single-seater and crashed into the protective barriers, then was taken to hospital, where he was released after 20 minutes after his condition was considered good.
A strong tailwind or open DRS were among the possible causes of the accident and the pilot, according to the media, may have been traveling at a speed of about 260 kilometers per hour. Jack immediately said he was fine, but it took him several minutes to leave the cockpit of his badly damaged A524.
Assisted on the track by the F1 medical team, Doohan was then taken by ambulance to the medical centre for a more detailed check-up, leaving him after around twenty minutes apparently in good condition.
However, if Jack is not declared "fit" to continue racing at the weekend, his place will be taken by reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa.
We recall that the third Formula 1 race of the season will take place on Sunday in Japan, with Doohan's car badly damaged.
