Today in the Court of Barcelona, the process for the rape charges against Dani Alves has started, with the former footballer being accused of sexual violence by a 23-year-old woman with the events that took place on the night between December 30 and 31, 2022, at the disco " Sutton" of Barcelona.
A few days later, Dani Alves appeared at the police to give his statement, but he was arrested and transported to the Catalan prison, "Brinas 2" and now, after almost 13 months, he is facing a trial with the accusing party, who wants to his 12 years in prison, while the prosecution requested 9 years, in addition to other economic punishments.
Until the end, the defense side tried to find an agreement with the victim, but without success, and in this way the former player of the Brazilian National Team appeared in court, where his mother, Lucia, was with him, who in the media different has been accused of having shared the victim's photo on social networks, something that has worsened the son's image.
The former defense winger, now 40 years old, was in trouble from before, since during the interrogations he changed the versions about the course of events that night a full 4 times. The first time he stated that he had never seen the "victim" before.
The court debate is expected to last three days with the depositions of 28 witnesses, with Dani Alves' lawyers requesting the cancellation of the case and immediate release. Since according to them the trial has been tainted by the distribution of news, many of which are false, thus creating a parallel trial to the detriment of the Brazilian in public opinion.
And at the same time violating the principle of presumption of innocence. The defense has also requested that Dani Alves testify last in line, after the girl in question and not the first, as was originally predicted.
