Marc Cucurella has had much success in his international career with the Spanish national team.
He was part of the Spain team that finished as runners-up in the UEFA Nations League in the 2024-25 season, but his greatest achievement is winning Euro 2024 with his team.
However, Cucurella was involved in some major controversy at Euro 2024 in Spain's 2-1 victory over Germany in the semi-finals.
He handballed the ball inside the area, but no penalty was awarded against the Chelsea defender.
Cucurella recently spoke about the impact the handball incident had, stating: "Yes, that handball has been talked about all over the world."
In fact, UEFA recently came to give us a speech and used my handball against Germany as an example. And they told me that because of me, the rules had to be changed.
"They shot at me from close range and the ball hit me, but I didn't mean to hit it with my hand, I didn't do it on purpose. I would have been the most hated boy in Spain...", said Cucurella.
