Defender Bujar Pllana is expected to be one of the newest additions to the Albanian national team for the March match against Poland. Although coach Silvinjo has tried to keep this move discreet for the media, FIFA has published the preliminary list of players who have received invitations from the Brazilian selector, thus revealing some new names.
Pllana, 24, is originally from Mitrovica and plays as a central defender. He currently plays in the Polish championship with Lekia Gdansk, where he has so far recorded 12 matches in all competitions, between the championship and the cup.
He started his career in Kosovo football, where he played for several teams such as Prishtina, Feronikeli and Trepça. He then moved to Croatia, where he played for Slaven Belupo's team, before moving to the Polish championship.
His stability and physical presence in defense are considered among the player's strengths, elements that may have influenced the decision of the Albanian technical staff to include him in the plans of the National Team. According to published information, Silvinjo may have used the moment to bring another footballer of Kosovo origin to the team.
In addition to his role in the center of defense, Pllana is also able to play on the right wing of the defensive unit, offering the coach an additional tactical alternative for the National Team's upcoming challenges.
