Erling Haaland is expected to be fit for Manchester City's match against Nottingham Forest after appearing to have complied with the strict rules set by manager Pep Guardiola over the Christmas break.
The Norwegian Sky Blues superstar, 25, has caught the attention of fans and teammates by posting a photo of himself on Instagram, weighing in at 94.4 kilograms. Alongside the photo, Haaland wrote sarcastically: "Everything's fine!", suggesting that he passed the physical examination without any problems.
Before the holidays, Guardiola had given his players a clear warning, demanding maximum discipline in terms of food and physical fitness. "When they return in three days, I want to see how they look. I will be there on December 25 to check how many kilos they have gained, if they have gained weight," the Spanish coach had declared.
Guardiola had also set a strict limit: any player who appeared more than three kilograms over the allowed weight would not travel with the team to Nottingham. Fitness and a healthy diet remain essential in the City manager's philosophy.
Manchester City players were weighed for the first time before the match against West Ham United, which they won 3-0, so that their weights could be compared with those after the festive break. The checks were repeated before the next trip.
Manchester City will face Nottingham Forest tomorrow at 1:30 PM, while Haaland, after his weight was made official, is expected to receive the "green light" from Guardiola to be part of the lineup.
