Accused of being a drug dealer, the former football player of the Russian

Aleksey Bugaev, former football player of the Russian national team, has ended up behind bars, after the former football star in this country was convicted as a drug dealer.

The former defender, who had the peak of his career when he was with the representative of his country in "EURO 2004", made a modest career even though he played with well-known clubs such as Lokomotiv Moscow and Krasnodar. Disappearing from the public eye, he reappeared at the end of last year when he was arrested by the police as a drug dealer.

According to Russian media, Bugaev tried to sell 500 grams of methylephedrine, a substance that was used in the past as a throat medicine, but which has turned into a real drug if mixed with other substances. He pleaded guilty before the court and was sentenced to 9 and a half years in prison. If he insisted on his innocence and was later found guilty, he would be sentenced to 20 years in prison.
