The national team has achieved great success by qualifying for the European Championship, but why is there not a player from the Albanian championship today, what is wrong?
The Albanian championship teams, or their academies, have not yet become professional. What does this mean? To enter a professional academy you have to pass many filters. All these academies must have a limited number. In order to be in the academy of a good team, you have to pass some checks and necessarily these kids have to grow up with many coaches and not just one. The economic situation definitely puts us in difficulties, but we must have footballers to be represented in their team and in the national team. I have also seen Arsenal's academy. A team of 17-year-olds was coached by 4 different coaches every day, but the philosophy remained the same.
Are you trying to say that we have quality in the ages, but the management that is done to them is not the right one?
The reason is simple, it is economic. We make the teams small, more to get money from them than to educate them professionally so that they become footballers in the future. It depends on what objection the teams have. You can't turn the academy into a source of income, but you have to spend on youth and raise players who will bring money in the future. We have teams in Superiore that do not have a good economy and are forced to take money from the academies, not all of them. However, it is important to filter the children who train in a professional team. Because the parent says that I will take the child to play sports because I am educated. But, no, we don't have to think like that anymore. Talents should stay in the academies.
To return to it, maybe the national team has increased the level a lot and created a big difference with the level of the Albanian championship?
I wanted to call it that. I'm in a dilemma about something. To have a very good Albanian championship and a slightly weaker national team or a good national team and a very weak championship. This dilemma is not solved by me, but those who run football in Albania must solve it.
If it were up to you, which option would you choose from this dilemma?
I would like to have both very well. But the national team is to be admired because one of the best generations has arrived. One of the best teams we've had in our history.
To get specifically into the players, what is the axis of Albania according to Vasil Ruci?
In general, national teams that are good have a strong core. I claim that the axis of our National Team should be Gjimshiti, Asllani and Broja. We will win these last two over time, when they also gain more experience because they are still young and then it will be like the work of flowing butter, everything will be easier.
Regarding the recent friendlies with Chile and Sweden, apart from the result, what taste did they leave you with?
In the first game, the opinion also had a greater impact. Of course, to justify this, the coach also activated players that he should see. Then the second game was different. Changed the formation, gave his ideas that I believe he is a good coach. In both matches, I think that Silvinjo has drawn the conclusion of who will be in the European.
Are you saying that coach Slvinjo has closed even those dilemmas he had?
For me, it has closed and there are no more dilemmas. As much as we are two months before a player's form changes, we can only have very small movements. For me, it ended with these two friendly matches.
As a famous former striker, who do you "vote" for should go to the European from this club?
It will always depend on the opposing teams as well. We know very well that they are very strong and for that we need very fast players to capture the rivals' areas. For me so far I decide on two names. It's my personal opinion. I wanted to have Broja and Muchi in the attack. But everything will also depend on the state these players will be in when that day comes.
Looking at those qualifying matches, can Albania surprise in the European, even though the group is very strong?
The best thing that happened to us now is that we lost the friendlies. This showed us that we have to sacrifice more than we need to achieve results. I'm not just saying physically, but also how wise we are to get the result. Why? We have to give justice to the opposing teams that we are weak at first sight, but in football I believe that we are not weak. Second, the players we have play in European championships and it is not a problem of inferiority. It has often happened that you can see teams like ours in the semi-finals. We don't have a big difference in players, but it's all about how smart we are to face these opponents. I believe that we must put our intelligence to work and I believe that we will get results.
In the end, I want to ask you about the famous match, Flamurtari-Barcelona, which will be repeated this year in Vlora, how far is the organization?
Our association has sent an invitation to Barcelona. They have accepted the invitation and only the date that will take place remains to be determined. It will be nice if they come before the European Championship, so that we veterans can look at that championship with nostalgia. I believe that all the players who played with Barcelona at that time will come, up to the famous Lineker./Panorama Sport
