Paolo Maldini is back to speak. In an interview with "Rai 3", the former captain and former technical director of Milan recalled some of the most significant moments of his career:
" When I made my debut, I didn't think I would play. I hadn't even brought the right shoes with me. There were more experienced players in front of me. When they told me to enter the field, I didn't think about anything else ."
On his relationship with his father, Cesare Maldini: " I had a good relationship with him, but I can't deny that in the early years his legacy weighed on me somewhat ."
For Arrigo Saki: " The changes we experienced in the physical aspect were very difficult, but essential for our success ."
Maldini on Maradona: " He never complained. After the fifth shot I said: 'I'm sorry, Diego .'"
Speaking about his encounters with the Argentine legend, Maldini added: " Maradona never complained. I consider myself a quick player with the ball, but he was even more so". He also added: "Successes also come through defeats. After all, I am one of the most defeated among the greatest winners. I have been lucky enough to win by losing a lot ."
The most difficult derbies? " The first ones, because I was emotionally blocked. I remember very well that after the match I said to myself: I didn't like how I played. My nervousness was very high, so I was emotionally blocked. Ronaldo was impressive ."
