In the North East of England, there is the Darlington club which was founded in 1883 and has always been a historic club for the town and the fans. In the 2000s, a young president known as George Reynolds took ownership of the team and decided to build a new stadium.
Thus, in 2003, a 25,000-seat stadium known as "Reynold Arena" was inaugurated. The stadium was built with the club's budget, but also with a huge debt, as the cost reached the value of 20 million pounds, and for a club in the fourth English league, it is extremely high.
The delay in loan payments caused the English Federation to repeatedly punish the club with points, until the club was relegated and forced to change its name. The team, known only as FC Darlington, would also add the year of foundation to the name to have something different, while playing in the lower, non-professional leagues.
However, it has recently managed to once again restore the original name it had before the bankruptcy, however the team does not play in the new stadium due to high costs and the stadium has been turned into a field for the sport of Rugby. The current managers hope to restore the club where it belongs and one day return to play in the stadium that destroyed it.
