After a 1-1 draw against Egypt, Iran national team captain Mehdi Taremi questioned whether his team is truly welcome at the World Cup, harshly criticizing the conditions in which it is playing matches in the United States.
The Iranian striker missed a penalty early in the match and then headed it against the crossbar. In the dying minutes, Iran scored a goal that would have secured qualification from the group stage, but it was ruled out for offside.
In addition to the challenges on the field, the Iranian national team has also faced logistical difficulties. Although US authorities allowed the team to travel from its base in Tijuana, Mexico, two days before the match, instead of one, Taremi said the conditions remain unfair.
The Iranian captain described the organization of the tournament as a logistical "disaster" and called for FIFA's intervention.

" FIFA should solve every problem here, but unfortunately it failed to do so from the beginning ," Taremi told reporters.
He also revealed that FIFA president Gianni Infantino had visited Iran's dressing room after the first match.
" This is just the beginning. But the group stage ends tomorrow and we still don't have our logistics people here ," Taremi said.
The footballer also criticized the obligation to constantly travel to Tijuana, emphasizing that the problem is not related to the city or its residents.
" We love the people of Mexico. We love Tijuana, it's a wonderful place and the people are very welcoming. But as professional footballers, in a competition of this level, this is not fair ."
Taremi also hinted that Iran does not feel welcome in this tournament, although the team still has a chance of securing a place in the knockout stage, depending on the results of other matches.
" Who wants to help us? Who? If they want us to be eliminated, fine, let's be eliminated and leave. But this is not fair ," the Iran captain concluded.
