With the sacking of Xavi Hernandez officially confirmed today, Barcelona are set to appoint Hansi Flick as their new manager.
A contract agreement is already in place with the 59-year-old German technician, which is likely to be signed and officially presented next week.
Xavi and his staff will move on after Sunday's game against Sevilla, with Flick taking over the reins heading into the new season.
Flick will bring two of his trusted assistants
With Flick set to take over, the German coach will bring two of his trusted former assistants with him to Barcelona, reports Florian Plettenberg.
Indeed, it is claimed that Flick plans to bring in Marcus Sorg and Toni Tapalovic to add to his coaching staff at Barca.
Tapalovic, 43, was the long-serving goalkeeping coach at Bayern Munich, where he spent more than a decade between 2011 and 2023.
The former footballer was critical of Manuel Neuer's rise to one of the best goalkeepers in the game in the last decade and worked with Flick at the Bavarian club.
Meanwhile, Marcus Sorg was assistant manager of the German national team from 2016 to 2023, working with Joachim Low and then Flick (25 games together).
Flick, Tapalovic and Sorg are expected to sign contracts until 2026 with Barcelona.
A report from Mundo Deportivo, however, claims that while Flick will bring two assistants with him, Barcelona are likely to stick with their current goalkeeping coach, José Manuel de la Fuente, who has been at the club for over a decade.
In addition, the Blaugrana also intend to provide a physical fitness coach for the staff, with that person expected to be Spanish.
