A 30-year-old coach has lost his life in France as a result of a lightning strike.
Several other men had to be hospitalized, one of them between life and death, after being struck by lightning on a soccer field in Courrières, northern France, where an amateur team was training.
The prefecture clarified that the deceased did not survive the lightning strike at the Gabriel Péri stadium, despite the intervention of the emergency services to keep him alive.
The victim's name was Jordan and his brothers, Luka and Théo, interviewed by the RTL radio station, emphasized that everything happened very quickly.
In its statement, the Prefecture emphasized that there were 29 people on the football field at the time of the incident, which caused the arrival of firefighting teams and health personnel.
The department of Pas de Calais, in which Courrières is located, was under a yellow weather alert for storms.
