It is reported that some players have expressed their dissatisfaction with the high intensity of the training sessions to the coach, arguing that the physical load has been excessive. According to them, this has also contributed to the recent injuries suffered by players such as Giorgian De Arrashaeta and Ronald Araujo.
The dissatisfaction is not limited to the physical aspect. According to "El Espectador", some of the players have also expressed reservations about the tactical plan prepared by Bielsa for the match against Spain.
The more experienced players in the squad, such as Federico Valverde, Rodrigo Bentancur, Manuel Ugarte and Sergio Rochet, are said to have preferred a more cautious approach, with low block defence and quick counterattacks to hit Luis de la Fuente's team. On the other hand, Bielsa remains committed to his playing philosophy and aims for Uruguay to face Spain while maintaining their identity on the pitch.
Faced with this situation, the Argentine coach held a meeting with the entire team, which lasted about 48 minutes. During the meeting, he listened to the concerns of the players, but at the same time conveyed his message regarding the situation.
According to Uruguayan media, Bielsa criticized several players who, according to reports, had asked for his removal from the national team. This dissatisfaction is also related to the coach's decision to exclude two important names such as Luis Suarez and Nahitan Nandez from the World Cup, a choice that had caused controversy from the moment it was made and which, according to reports, remains one of the sources of tension within the team.
