Roma has decided to sack the Portuguese coach, Jose Mourinho, with immediate effect.
The Italian club has informed this Tuesday that it has terminated the contract with the Portuguese due to poor results. Decisive was the loss that the yellow-reds took on Sunday against Milan, while there were long rumors about the departure. Roma leaders have often been annoyed by Mourinho's complaints, but now they have to think about the Portuguese's successor.
Jose Mourinho took charge of Roma in the summer of 2021, while winning the Conference League trophy in Tirana. This was also the only European trophy for the Italian club.
"AS Roma announces that Jose Mourinho and his technical colleagues will leave the club with immediate effect. Mourinho was announced as the sixtieth coach in the history of Roma in May 2021. He led the team to the Conference League triumph in Tirana on 25 May 2022 and in the Europa League final in Budapest last season.
We thank Jose Mourinho on behalf of all of Roma for the passion and dedication he has displayed since his arrival in the capital. We will always have great memories of his stewardship, but we believe that, in the best interests of the club, immediate change is necessary.
We wish Jose and his colleagues the best for the future", the club's official announcement read.
