The presence of Albanian footballers in the Italian championship continues to grow, a development that is also being positively reflected at the level of the Albanian National Team. Alongside the consolidated players in Serie A, a considerable number of Albanians are active in Serie B and in the lower categories, where they are emerging as protagonists with their teams.
While the Italian football elite is dominated by confirmed names, in Serie B there is a greater presence of young players, who aim to make the big step towards elite teams and the A National Team. In this context, the International Center for Sports Statistics (CIES) has published a list of the 15 best players under 23 years of age in Serie B.
Three Albanian footballers stand out in this selection: twin brothers Stiven and Kristian Shpendi, as well as midfielder Luis Hasa.
Stivën Shpendi, part of Empoli, has registered 1749 minutes of activity, scoring 13 goals and one assist. According to CIES assessments, he stands out especially for his strength in the aerial game.
Meanwhile, Kristian Shpendi has had an even busier season with Cesena, playing 2039 minutes, scoring 10 goals and providing 4 assists. His strongest point is considered to be finishing in front of goal, despite a lower number of goals compared to his brother.
The list also includes Luis Hasa, who plays for Carrara. The midfielder has played 1643 minutes, contributing with 5 goals and 4 assists. CIES considers his main qualities to be his ability in one-on-one situations and dribbling, considering him among the most outstanding players in this aspect in the Italian championship.
The performances of these players have not gone unnoticed, as according to reports they have attracted the interest of bigger clubs. Possible moves during the summer transfer window remain open, while such a step could bring them closer to the role of protagonists with the Albanian National Team jersey.
