A new debate has opened in Turkish football, with Albanian national team striker Ernest Muçi at the center of the reactions. Trabzonspor fans have exploded on social media, accusing them of unequal treatment in the way goals from different teams are evaluated.
The reason for the reaction was the goal scored by Besiktas midfielder Orkun Kökçü over the weekend in the match against Gençlerbirliği. His goal from a very difficult angle was considered in Turkey as one of the most beautiful goals of the season.
However, this assessment has brought dissatisfaction to Trabzonspor fans, who claim that a similar goal, even more beautiful in their opinion, was scored earlier by Ernest Muçi in the match against Konyaspor, but did not receive the same media coverage.
In comments published on social media, supporters of Trabzonspor and the Albanian players have demanded more equal treatment for the club and its players, compared to the big teams in Istanbul.
"When a goal like this is scored by an Istanbul team, it is talked about for days. But when a similar goal comes from Trabzonspor, no one pays attention. Trabzonspor's history has always been against these double standards and we will not forget this approach," one of the fans' comments reads.
In this way, Ernest Muç's name has returned to the center of discussion in Turkish football, this time not only for his performance on the field, but also for the debate he has sparked among fans and sports opinion.
