As the 10th anniversary of Mikael Schumacher's accident at Meribel approaches (next December 29), a journalistic investigation carried out by German reporter Jens Gideon on behalf of the broadcaster ARD brings to light two serious errors thought to have played a role in decisive bad luck in causing the accident and then in the possible deterioration of the condition of the German legend, who will turn 55 on January 3.
The first mistake, in fact, was committed by the legend of Formula 1 himself, going off the track (albeit only for a few tens of meters) in insufficient snow conditions, as reported to the journalist by the local ski instructors. The shoemaker ended up hitting a large rock that came out of the snowy surface.
The second error is attributed to the initial inaccurate assessment of Schumaker's condition by the first aid rescuers, who in the helicopter rescue operation had targeted the nearest hospital (in Moutiers) while then heading to Grenoble, lost precious and potentially decisive minutes.
Meanwhile, Schumaker's current condition continues to remain a very secretive topic, for which former FIA president Jean Todt has given very limited information on several recent occasions.
Todt has always emphasized the attitude of the pilot's family to maintain privacy, without giving details about his friend's condition. However, he has made it known on several occasions that a few years ago he followed Formula 1 races on TV together with Shumi.
