Luka Modric is now officially a Milan player. After passing his medical and signing the contract at the red and black club's offices, the Italian team announced the start of this collaboration.
" AC Milan announces that it has secured the sports rights of the footballer Luka Modric until June 30, 2026, with an option to extend the contract until June 30, 2027."
Born in Zadar on 9 September 1985, Luka Modrić took his first steps in professional football at the age of 16, joining the youth academy of Dinamo Zagreb. To complete his development, he gained initial experience on loan with Zrinjski Mostar and NK Inter Zaprešić. In 2004, he returned to Dinamo, where in four seasons, he made 128 appearances and scored 32 goals, contributing to three league titles, two Croatian Cups and one Croatian Super Cup. In the summer of 2008, he moved to Tottenham, where he played 159 games and scored 17 goals over four seasons. In 2012, Real Madrid called and in thirteen seasons with “Los Blancos”, he made 597 appearances and scored 43 goals, becoming the most successful player in the history of the Spanish club with 28 trophies: 6 Champions Leagues, 5 Club World Cups, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 5 European Super Cups, 4 Spanish Leagues, 2 Copa del Rey and 5 Spanish Super Cups.
In 2018, he won the Ballon d'Or, capping an extraordinary career that has made him one of the greatest players in the history of world football.
He is the captain and most-capped player in Croatia's history, with 188 appearances and 28 goals. Luka Modric will wear the number 14 shirt for the Rossoneri ," the club's statement read.
The 39-year-old's experience can help Allegri's team achieve their objectives at a time when the gap in the group is large after the departures of "big" players like Reinders and Teo Hernandez.
