Official/ Xabi Alonso confirmed as Real Madrid coach

Xabi Alonso has been officially confirmed as the next coach of Real Madrid.

The former Madrid midfielder returns to the Santiago Bernabéu after leading Bayer Leverkusen to an unbeaten Bundesliga title in 2024.

The 43-year-old returns to his former club after winning five major trophies in five years as a player in the Spanish capital.

Alonso will replace Carlo Ancelotti, who has already been appointed as the new coach of the Brazil national team, and will be in charge of the Club World Cup this summer.

His first match will take place on June 18 against Saudi Arabian team Al Hilal.
