Even for the first 6 months of 2026, SPAK's report is filled with achievement figures in cracking down on organized drug trafficking crime, seizing illegal assets, and blocking billions laundered in government-licensed business activities.
But the SPAK statistics do not include the name of Andrea Çaushi, alias Renato Çaushi from Tepelena, with several files for international criminal drug activity with a structured group, hostage-taking, extortion against businessmen, kidnapping and wounding in attempted murder.
For 6 years, SPAK has not investigated Andrea Çauş, although it has received complete files on him from the former Serious Crimes Prosecutor's Office and district prosecutors' offices; in fact, some of SPAK's prosecutors were former serious crimes prosecutors who had him as a subject of investigation.
International partners, specifically the Sicilian Prosecutor's Office and the Italian Anti-Mafia, during the years 2022-2024 have requested SPAK to investigate and seize the assets of trafficker Andrea Çaushi alias Renato Çaushi, accompanied by files of evidence from his activity in drug trafficking and other crimes.
In the information received by "Pamphlet" from sources within SPAK and BKH, it is stated that on February 19, 2026, the Sicilian Prosecutor's Office and the Italian Anti-Mafia requested SPAK to conduct a joint investigation of the trafficker Andrea Çaushi.
But this time too, SPAK has not offered cooperation to its Italian partners, with the excuse that there is no evidence of crime in Albania, when for Andrea Çauşi, SPAK itself and the prosecutors of Saranda, Gjirokastër, Vlorë, Fier, Tirana and Lezha have files on drug trafficking and other crimes.
On June 6, 2017, Andrea Çaushi was arrested in Tirana, along with Andi Mita, Kasëm Piluri and Altin Rramolli, by the Italian Anti-Mafia and the former Serious Crimes Prosecutor's Office (now SPAK), for trafficking 900 kg of drugs from Karaburun to Sicily, for the "Nizza" mafia family.
His arrest was even made as part of the "Laguna e Vilunit" group in Lezha, which trafficked large quantities of drugs collected in Saranda, Gjirokastra, Tepelena, Mallakastra and Vlora to Italy, through a network of 11 people, including 2 senior police officials.
But after 1 month, Andrea Çaushi was released by the Court of Appeal for Serious Crimes, while the Serious Crimes Prosecution Office (now SPAK), in agreement between the parties, did not appeal and remained silent.
According to the Italian file and Albanian justice files, it turns out that in the years 2014-2022, Andrea Çaushi trafficked 3.8 tons of drugs to Italy, while SPAK is leaving him out of the investigation and seizure, and even removed him from the OFL list, where SPAK was the authority that compiled the lists and investigated the assets.
In parallel with SPAK's inaction, Edi Rama and his ministers have given the smuggler Andrea Çaushi the Lëkurës Castle in Saranda for free as a resort; as well as public areas for quarries, permits for hotels and palaces in Ksamil, Saranda, Gjirokastër, Himara, Vlora and Tirana.
According to SHISH reports, drug lord Andrea Çaushi has 5 hotels in Saranda, Vlora, Himara and 11 apartments and 4 bars in Tirana, invested with income from drug trafficking, extortion, contract killings and ensnaring rivals, friends and criminal collaborators.
At the Çuka Canal in Saranda, Andrea Çaushi has a 7-story hotel, built with dirty money, where the first floor is a bar-cafe, but also a restaurant at Gjiri i Hartës in Ksamil, registered in the name of his brother Visi Çaushi, administered by their family member Dritjona Çaushi.
For example, in the "Pallatet-Derveni" complex in Kombinat, Yzberish, Astir and in the "5 Maji" area in Tirana, the trafficker Andrea Çaushi has 18 apartments, 3 bars, 4 shops, 1 gym and 11 garages, obtained through investment-laundering of criminal money in the construction firms "Derveni-1", "5 Maji Konstruksion", "BBL-Tepelena" etc./ Pamphlet
