Lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu explained his statement regarding one of the factors why Albania would join the EU and emphasized that the main reason was geopolitical, as the country currently sends soldiers as part of its membership in NATO.
"The essence of the concept is that the needs of the EU today require the introduction of the Western Balkans as members of the European Union. They are facing a new reality and they need us more than we need them. The joke about the soldiers was also in this context, since Albania is currently a member of NATO and sends soldiers with various missions, but the joke was also in the geopolitical aspect," said Spahiu regarding his statement on Albania's membership in the EU.
Regarding the cause he represented when he ran with his movement in 2013, Spahiu said that he was part of a greater cause that overthrew the power of the PD-Berisha duo, who had made Albania small.
"I have only run for Parliament once, but I was part of a great cause, which overthrew the power of that government that made Albania small. Berisha and his party did not come to power because they represented a small and wrong cause, while I will be remembered as a lawyer who represented a great cause," he explained.
Finally, he also analyzed the issue of the vote and its counting, as another political paradox of the PD-SP duo, which will have the task of manually counting the votes of small parties, after they overturned the electronic counting.
"We have 9 political entities and 2 coalitions. We have 6 new parties, whose votes can be counted by 4 new parties. So the people can vote for the new parties, but the votes will be counted by the 4 old parties. One of the OSCE projects was electronic voting, as well as for the Diaspora. Two weeks after the changes to the Code, Rama-Berisha agreed to count by hand and remove electronic voting. Are there any Albanians who believe that this agreement was made so that the votes of Albanians can be counted as well as possible, including those of the Diaspora? Let the DP tell the Albanians why it chose and decided to count the votes with commissioners," the lawyer concluded for Report TV.
Spahiu also gave an opinion regarding justice and interference or the desire of the PD-SP political establishment to merge or reformat it.
"I think there will be no change to the Special Prosecution Office or the Special Court, this is also due to the fact that the parliamentary majority has voted for several constitutional amendments with over 93 votes regarding the functioning and organization of SPAK. So another large number of votes is needed to intervene and make the changes. So only if one of the forces in the elections gets almost 100 deputies. I think that the DP and the SP cannot change the Constitution, they cannot get that many votes, they can intervene for small things, to set filters. There is an intervention from the international factor so that justice continues, but the DP and the SP will try to prevent it. The international factor seems to have agreed to set some filters for the new justice, SPAK and GJKKO, so that there are also limitations ," he said.
Regarding the political future of Albania, he said:
"Regarding what will happen in the political future for the 2029 elections, May 11 will determine it, in terms of the political establishment. These elections will determine this and depending on the establishment, whether it continues or changes, the 2029 ones will be unpredictable."
